Buried Life Project

Authors Note:
Hey there my name's Jeremy and I am a 17 year High School student. I live with my family of my mom, dad, sister and two cats in Canada. I wrote a bucket list of 50+ things I want to do before I die. Some of the items on my list are more unrealistic than others (example; playing Survivor) but I hope that eventually I get to accomplish all of these things at some point in my life. I think that a lot of us have similar interests and goals in life like travelling and having a good job, but besides those things I think my list show's my hobbies and interests outside of just school. I think one of my main interests that this list reflects is my love for water. I love to do just about any and every activity you can think of in the water, be it water skiing, wake boarding and swimming, I love it all. There are a lot of things like this that I haven't done, like learning to surf and swimming in Jellyfish Lake that I would love to try at least once in my life. Some of my other interests that are reflected from my list are my love of travelling, Survivor and Big Brother. Although I probably will not be able to finish all of these tasks in my lifetime, it's always nice to have a list of goals and things you would like to accomplish, and this is my list..

Now What:
I think that for a lot of the items on my bucket list to become a reality, I would need to do a lot of hard thinking and planning. Some of the items on my list could use each other to come true. For example; buying a Cadillac would mean I would need to get a good paying job and in order for me to get a good paying job, I would need to finish University. I've done one of the first steps for this process being applying for University. Being that this is my last year of High School I had to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and how. After months and months of procrastinating I finally sat down and thought about what I wanted to do. This past Saturday I was looking on the University of Manitoba's website and after a while decided I wanted to go into business. 3 days later I have applied and am hoping to be accepted for next year. I think that in the grand scheme of things, everything you do advances you further in your life and connect to other things. In this case, applying for university will hopefully lead me to buying a Cadillac in the future.

"Good work today buddy" said the young doctor jumping off his companion.
"You too, Doc" replied his scaly best friend.
The two started walking home, the doctor in front of his best friend and colleague. Everyday walking home they attracted many, viewers, to say the least. It was near impossible for people not to hear the sound of the dinosaurs loud stomps as they multiplied for miles.
I`m ready for this winter to be over, muffled the dinosaur.
"Ha, it's just starting Charlie" replied the doctor.
Charlie hated winter, everything about it irked him.
"You would think those tough feet of yours would be accustomed to the snow" said the doctor.
"Very funny" replied and unimpressed Charlie.
"Better toughen up if you want to be ready for tomorrow " said the doctor.
The next day the dinosaur and the doctor had a big day ahead. They were travelling to Greenland for an important conference.
"Nice try! I'm not going to that, it's even colder there!" said Charlie. "I already told you, I'm not going"
"Come on Charlie" replied the seemingly disappointed doctor. "How else will I get there?"
"Guess you'll have to figure that out" said Charlie.
The rest of the walk home was quiet. The only thing you could hear was the spitting cold wind.
When they got home Charlie went straight into his barn and the doctor went into his house, neither saying a word to the other.
-

The next morning, John, the doctor went into Charlie's barn with some food.
" Morning C" said John, turning on the lights.
A tired and confused Charlie replied "Hey John" as he starts to wake up.
After a while John and Charlie finished their breakfast and waited to see who would talk about the elephant in the room first.
"So I've been thinking..." said John, playing with his fork and leftover food. "I think that this conference is a really good idea for us..."
"Stop John" interrupted Charlie.
"No, think about it" John replied. "We could get a promotion and maybe after that..."
"I'm not going" said Charlie.
A piercing ring interrupted the awkward silence that followed.  The doctor ran up to pick up the phone.
"Hello, Dr. John speaking"
Charlie tried to decipher the conversation, but found it hard hearing only one side.
"Now?" questioned the doctor. "but we have that conference to go to."
A slight grin came upon Charlie's face.
"FIne. We're on our way" said the frustrated doctor hanging up the phone.
"Get ready Charlie, we have a 411"
The code 411 meant emergency in the hospital world.
"Hopefully this doesn't take long, pack your bag quickly and let's go."
John grabbed his bag and Charlie packed his suitcase as asked. They ran outside and John jumped onto the large dinosaur.
"Let's go Charlie" yelled John "we're going to 168 Alliant Road"
The anticipation of the dinosaur taking flight had the whole neighborhood starring out their windows. A loud wind and flapping sound started and soon enough the doctor and dinosaur were in the air. The address was only a short flight away and within 10 minutes they had landed.
The doctor jumped off of the dinosaur and rushed into the small bungalow.
"Hello, a doctor was called" John said, nearly yelling as he ran into the house.
A small woman with brown hair and a small figure respond "the emergency is here."
The doctor looked confused, he didn't see anyone in need of help. He started to look over his shoulder and around the room.
"No, here!" said the woman pointing down to her lap.
Sitting in her lap was a little cat who looked to have a broken leg.
The doctor sighed and said "Ma'am, I'm an emergency doctor, not a veterinarian."
"Please help us doctor! I can't live without him." replied the woman, starting to sob.
The doctor took a minute to figure out what to do. "I'll tell you what. I'll take you over to a vet, but we have to leave right now." he said.
"Thank you doctor, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!" replied the grateful woman.
Within the next half hour the dinosaur, his doctor colleague, the woman and her cat had landed at the vet.
"You don't know how thankful I am for your help" said the woman getting off of the dinosaur.
"You're welcome, just don't call the hospital next time" replied the doctor as he winked at the woman.
The doctor jumped off the dinosaur and patted him on the chest. "Good work buddy" he said. "Now since we have our bags packed..."
"I've been thinking during our, trip, today and I think that if it's that important to you... I'll go" said Charlie.
"Charlie! You have no idea what that means to me" replied John.
And the next thing they knew, they were headed to Greenland on a trip to the conference. They stayed there for a week, having more fun than they could have imagined. When they arrived home a week later, John got a call. He had been offered a job in Australia, which payed extremely well. Both John and Charlie were winners. John got a better job, and Charlie got his better weather.
"Well Charlie, guess we're headed to Australia." said John.
"Guess so!" replied Charlie.

Dialogue and Non-Verbal Body Language

Sweet and silly (and uncomfortably sexy) moments from Loki's childhood

"Stop it you two" mumbled the middle aged father reading his newspaper.

"Stay out of it dad!" yelled Ed as he looks at his twin brother taunting him. "I'm going to beat the crap out of you!"

Laughing, Noah replied "I'd like to see you try."

The father leaned over the table to start cleaning up the mess, ignoring his children fighting. "Kids these days" he mumbled to himself.

"Leave this mess for Noah to clean up, he made it, he cleans it!" said Ed stomping away from the table.
"If you weren't such a prick we wouldn't have this problem!" replied Noah.

"I caused this?!?" said Noah  clenching his fists.

"STOP IT!" yelled their father. "I don't care who started it, I'm ending it! Now finish cleaning up this mess and go to your rooms."

"I'm not cleaning any of this!" yelled Ed as he stomped to his room.

"Get back here and clean you half Ed!" yelled Noah crossing his arms.

"No! You can do it all yourself" said Noah slamming his bedroom door shut.

"He's so annoying" said Noah to himself starting to clean his mess.

"Good work buddy" said the dad to Noah as he finished the dishes.

"There. I'm done and I'm never cleaning his crap ever again" said Noah as he walked away.

When Noah slams his bedroom door shut the father mumbled "teenagers" to himself and rolled his eyes.

Thinking about Dialogue

My partner and I went to a window upstairs where we saw two girls who were clearly friends sitting and talking together. We listened to the conversation for about 7 minutes. At first we couldn't hear what they were saying, they were pretty quiet and mumbling. It felt awkward because we didn't try overly hard to be subtle. When we saw them we went straight to note taking and we assumed it felt out of the blue. When we sat down we noticed that they stopped talking for a moment and started mumbling. It took a while for them to start talking normal again. We could tell that they were friends because they were acting silly and goofing around. For example when one of them went to lie down, the other said "can you just not embarass me?" in a joking tone. We could use this conversation to apply to our writing because of the way they spoke to one another. We overheard them use the acronym "OMG" which proves that people don't speak formally all the time, especially when they're with their friends. You could tell that when teenagers are around people they're most comfortable with they tend to act kind of immature. One of the more surprising things we learned was that when two people are conversing they tend to take a while to adjust to others being present. They seemed to be comfortable after a while, one was standing up moving around and the other was lying down on the bench. One of the main differences we noticed between written and spoken conversations is the way that people speak. In written conversations, authors assume people talk more formal than they actually do. You can tell that spoken conversations are less formal because people use words such as "OMG" and "like".

Survivor - Episode 10

It seems like my weeks are waiting for Wednesday's so I can watch a new episode of Survivor. There's 8 castaways remaining in the game and 3 on Redemption Island. I have 1 of my main favorites still in the game and in a great position. I hope Tina wins the truel on Redemption because I would love to see an underdog prevail. Unfortunately, thanks to the promos I know that Monica wins immunity this week. I think that the boot will be Katie or Laura, Katie is the last of her alliance and I would prefer she stays this week. As the finale is approaching, the numbers are dwindling and everyone is thinking of the their end game.
